marleymarley: ragbag: false scrotums and their uses in the espionage industry i’ve been doing my best to keep this blog from turning into an rss feed of interesting articles about false scrotums. despite the enormous pressure from the false scrotum lobby, i made the editorial decision not to post several different stories about how great false scrotums can be and why everyone should be buying as many as will fit into an amazon shopping cart. but there is one false scrotum story that needs to be told, so please indulge me this singular instance. we turn now to the official cia manual of trickery and deception (2010, but written in 1953 by a magician contracted by the cia (whoa!)). where we learn these two little dangling nuggets: In the late 1960s, the CIA fielded a military request to provide a means of concealing a subminiature escape radio on a downed pilot who was likely to be captured and searched. Advances in miniature circuitry using transistors had produced a radio one-half the size of a cigarette pack, but it needed a hiding place. CIA engineers knew that guards were less likely to search another male’s genitalia and created a false rubber scrotum that fit over the wearer’s testicles. Matched to skin color, and incorporating full anatomical detail, the prosthesis was visually undetectable, but formed a cavity large enough to conceal the escape radio. The wearer donned the concealment by inserting one testicle at a time into the false scrotum. incidentally, “one testicle at a time” is how i live my life. I love a good spy story. I put my false scrotum on just like everyone else: One testicle at a time.
